Dear best friend,
You will be proud of me: I made it to the Great Wall of China. It curves across the mountains like the longest walking path in the world, which, as a Labrador, I consider a personal invitation. I tried very hard to look like a brave explorer, even though part of me kept wondering whether there might be snacks at the end.
The wind came over the hills carrying the smell of stone, leaves, and stories from very far away. I stood on the ancient bricks with my chest out and imagined myself leading an expedition. A bird flew past, and I showed great maturity by only following it with my eyes for three seconds. Almost no chasing at all.
The Great Wall made me feel small in the best way. So many people walked here before us, and now I got to add my own paw-print story to the wind. I kept imagining you touching my head and saying, “Good boy.”
I miss home, but I learned something important: adventure feels even better when I can bring the story back to you.
